Something brought you here today. Maybe you have been carrying more than feels manageable for a long time. Maybe anxiety has started showing up in places it never used to. Maybe you have tried to push through, stay positive, or figure it out on your own and it has not been enough. That is not a personal failure. That is a signal that something needs to change.
At Rhode Island ACT, we work with people who are tired of struggling and ready to move differently. Our entire practice is built around Acceptance and Commitment Therapy — not as one option among many - but as the foundation of everything we do. Every therapist on our team is trained specifically in ACT, which means you get care that is consistent, grounded, and focused on what actually moves the needle.
ACT does not ask you to feel better before you start living. It helps you build real skills for relating differently to the thoughts, feelings, and patterns that have been getting in your way — so you can begin moving toward the life you want, even when hard things are still present.
We offer in-person care in Cranston, Providence, and Peace Dale, Rhode Island, and telehealth across Rhode Island and Massachusetts. You do not need the right words or a clear plan to reach out. You just need to take one step.
We work with adults who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or worn down — people who have often already tried to think their way out of what is hurting them and are looking for something that actually works. That includes anxiety, overthinking, burnout, grief, chronic illness, relationship strain, and major life transitions.
We do not start by fitting you into a diagnostic category. We start by understanding what is actually happening in your life, how distress shows up, what drives it, and what your current responses are costing you. From there, we work together using ACT to build flexibility, reduce unworkable struggle, and reconnect you with what matters most. For many people, this feels like the first time therapy has made sense.
We offer individual therapy, couples counseling, and group therapy for adults — in person and via telehealth. Every service is designed to be active, skills focused, and oriented toward real progress rather than open-ended conversation.
For people who want to build ACT skills in a structured, affordable format, we offer the fACT Group, a three-session program that starts every month at our Cranston location, and an ongoing Sunday Mindfulness Group. Both are designed to give you tools you can actually use. We also offer a Flexible Access pathway for clients who need to begin care quickly — often within days — at a significantly reduced cost. If you have been putting off getting help because of cost, availability, or not knowing where to start, we built this pathway with you in mind.
Because you deserve care that takes you seriously. If you have sat on a waitlist for months, left sessions feeling like you talked a lot but nothing shifted, or tried approaches that asked you to think positively without giving you anything real to work with — you already know that not all therapy is the same.
Rhode Island ACT is different in a specific way. Every clinician here works from the same evidence-based framework, which means the quality and direction of care is consistent across our team. Sessions are active and purposeful. We pay attention to what is keeping you stuck, not just what is bothering you. The goal is not to eliminate discomfort — it is to help you stop letting discomfort run your life. That is a more honest goal, and for most people, a far more useful one.
We accept a wide range of insurance plans. Our Flexible Access pathway is designed for clients without insurance or those facing financial barriers, with session fees typically ranging from $35 to $60 and some lower-cost options available based on need and availability. Group programs are available for as little as $15 per session. Our goal is to offer care that is both high quality and accessible — often at a cost comparable to a standard copay. We are happy to help you understand your options and find an approach that feels manageable.
