Professional statement

Ryan Wright, LCSW-C, specializes in working with people navigating the complexities of life’s challenges. His practice is dedicated to those who feel they are "just surviving" due to symptoms of depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and addiction. He also provides expert support for individuals struggling with personality disorders and trauma-related symptoms. By maintaining a small caseload, Mr. Wright ensures each client receives the personalized attention and advocacy necessary to move beyond hopelessness toward a more fulfilling life experience.

His therapeutic approach is client-centered, collaborative, and rooted in evidence-based research. Mr. Wright utilizes a combination of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) specifically adapted for chronic conditions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing. This multifaceted strategy allows him to tailor treatment plans to the unique needs of each individual. He prioritizes the development of a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship, providing clients with practical tools and coping techniques to regain a sense of control over their destiny.

With over 15 years of experience in the mental health and addictions field, Mr. Wright brings a wealth of clinical expertise to his practice. He earned his Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland. His professional background includes extensive work in residential and outpatient treatment centers, as well as seven years dedicated to mental health crisis intervention. This professional depth is complemented by his personal experience living with chronic migraine headaches, offering him a unique, relatable perspective on the challenges of disability and the journey toward recovery.

To accommodate the unique health and logistical needs of his clients, Mr. Wright provides flexible online therapy services. He offers hybrid options, including video and telephone sessions, designed to meet clients where they are most comfortable. As a licensed independent psychotherapist, he serves individuals throughout the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia.

Message to clients

I want you to know that my goal is for you to feel seen, heard, and supported as you navigate whatever difficulties brought you here. My hope for every client is to find relief, motivation, and renewed perspective. I understand that reaching out for therapy can feel daunting, especially when life’s challenges have made things feel uncertain or overwhelming.

Before we begin, it’s important for you to know that I strive to create a welcoming and judgment-free environment. I encourage you to ask questions and share your goals, concerns, or expectations from the very beginning. Together, we’ll develop a treatment plan and I’ll provide practical tools and coping techniques to help you navigate life’s hurdles.
