Practice Information

Deborah Vara is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor in Virginia, and Owner of A Path 2 Healing, based in Warrenton, VA. She works with individuals across the lifespan, with a focus on older adolescents, college-age, adult women and couples. Deborah is particularly sensitive to clients facing trauma, like domestic abuse, sexual trauma, and loss of job or relationship. Trauma can bring on depression, PTSD, anxiety, disassociation, grief and loss, and a feeling of being “stuck.”

The therapeutic approaches used during sessions are rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered, DBT, and EMDR evidence-based that focus on helping clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, so that they can begin to make targeted change. Deborah helps clients to understand their physical trauma response to external stressors, and begin to problem-solve ways to introduce moments of calm and clarity.

Deborah is focused on ensuring clients see real progress: her style is interactive, direct, non-judgmental, and positions clients as the experts on where they are now, and where they want to go. As a trauma-informed therapist, Deborah is sensitive to the influence of past experiences on present challenges, and works closely with clients to reframe the narrative of their life in a way that increases self-confidence and compassion.

Her first priority in starting with a new client is ensuring that they feel safe, heard in the therapeutic process. As a therapist and seasoned telehealth provider, Deborah offers the convenience of remote sessions and in-person sessions, to help make therapy a core component of your self-care calendar.
