Mindful Life Counseling is a woman- and POC-owned group practice providing telehealth therapy to adolescents, adults, and couples throughout Illinois. Many of our clinicians bring lived experience as members of the communities they serve, and our work is grounded in anti-oppressive, culturally responsive care with a strong emphasis on trauma healing, embodiment, and liberation.
Many of our clinicians are trained in approaches such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), DBT, and somatic therapies. We also spend a lot of time thinking critically about how these models intersect with culture, power, identity, and lived experience, so the work feels relevant and responsive to the folks in front of us, particularly those from communities that have historically been marginalized or pathologized within traditional mental health systems.
We approach therapy as a partnership rather than a hierarchy, and our clinicians show up as full, real people in the room: warm, embodied, honest, and committed to their own ongoing growth. Whatever a client carries; grief, rage, numbness, longing, or joy, we aim to meet them there, wherever they are in their healing.
Mindful Life Counseling is an online therapy practice serving adolescents, adults, and couples across Illinois. We offer individual therapy, trauma-focused care, and couples and relationship therapy that affirms both monogamous and non-monogamous relationships, with clinicians trained in EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic therapy.
The therapists at Mindful Life Counseling specialize in trauma, including complex trauma, attachment trauma, and racial trauma. We also work extensively with anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship concerns, self-esteem, and burnout. We have particular expertise supporting BIPOC clients, LGBTQ+ and trans clients, adult children of immigrants, and people navigating intergenerational trauma, dual cultural identity, perfectionism, and women’s mental health.
What matters most at Mindful Life Counseling is that our care is genuinely identity-affirming and trauma-informed at its core, not as an add-on. Many of our clinicians share lived experience with the communities they serve, and our whole team practices from an anti-oppressive framework that treats your culture, identity, and the systems you move through as central to the work rather than background to it. We’re trained in evidence-based, body-centered approaches like EMDR, IFS, and somatic therapy, and we hold them with an understanding that healing happens in relationship. You won’t have to explain or justify your identity here, or shrink yourself to be understood; we meet you as a whole person, wherever you are in your healing.
At Mindful Life Counseling, we are in-network with BCBS PPO, Blue Choice, Aetna, and UnitedHealthcare. For clients paying out of pocket, our self-pay rate is $200 for the initial session and $160 for subsequent sessions. Our office manager is happy to help review your benefits before your first session. If you have an out-of-network plan, we also provide superbills that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. We’re glad to answer any questions about coverage and help you understand your options before getting started.
