Professional statement

Julia DeGrooth is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a strong foundation in clinical nursing, psychology, and neuroscience. She earned both her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing from the MGH Institute of Health Professions, where she developed a deep commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered psychiatric care.

Julia’s clinical experience spans a wide range of settings, including inpatient psychiatry at McLean Hospital and HRI, community mental health centers, pediatric and family care, and in-home nursing services. This experience allows her to approach each patient with clinical depth, flexibility, and a deeply informed understanding of the full spectrum of mental health needs.

Julia’s approach integrates psychoanalytic principles, supportive therapy techniques, and holistic, lifestyle-informed strategies to help patients strengthen emotional resilience and long-term well-being. Her goal is to empower individuals with tools that promote meaningful, sustainable change—always grounded in compassion, collaboration, and respect for each person’s unique story.

Message to clients

I specialize in providing virtual/telehealth medication management/pharmacology services as well as treating mood disorders, anxiety, trauma-related conditions, and complex psychiatric conditions. With my experience in inpatient psychiatry, community care, and family services, I am able to seamlessly blend medication management / pharmacology with supportive, tailored therapeutic approaches to promote long-term wellbeing.

At Stella Mental Health, I am dedicated to offering thoughtful, personalized psychiatric care for adolescents through older adults. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I strive to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where patients feel heard, understood, and supported as they navigate their mental health journeys. I understand that seeking help can feel vulnerable, and I believe healing grows through collaboration and compassionate care. If you're ready to take the next step toward feeling better, I would be honored to support you on your journey.

Therapist's note

After scheduling, you'll receive an email from Stella Mental Health containing your paperwork. Please allow 30 minutes to complete. Your responses will help your provider prepare for your upcoming appointment. All patients are required to complete these forms at least 24 business hours before their appointment.

A dedicated Care Advocate will call you and answer any questions you may have. Please be prepared to provide a credit card to keep on file for co-pays or cancellation fees. If a payment method is not provided, your appointment may be canceled. Late cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full intake appointment fee.

During your appointment, you’ll spend 60 minutes with your provider collaborating on a treatment plan tailored to your needs. If in-person treatments are recommended—such as TMS, Spravato, SGB, or ketamine therapy—our care team will guide you through the process and ensure you feel supported every step of the way.
