Professional statement

Sara Foster (she/her) is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner working virtually with clients, aged 12 and older, across Massachusetts. Many of Sara’s clients seek medication management when their symptoms become dysregulating, affecting work and relationships. Sara is particularly passionate about serving her own community, LQBTQIA+, and neurodivergent clients, increasing access to underserved peoples.

Sara is trained in medication management and therapeutic support of all mental health conditions. In session, Sara uses a combination of medication management, DBT, CBT, and motivational interviewing to refine client goals and develop a collaborative treatment plan. This approach empowers clients to make meaningful progress while supported by medication.

Sara’s style is collaborative. When a client first comes in, Sara creates a welcoming, non-judgemental space, meeting the client where they are in life. Sara is dedicated to providing a safe space, fostering trust, and creating a treatment plan that addresses each client's individual needs.

Sara received their Master of Science in Nursing from Northeastern University, working as a Nurse Educator before attending Regis College for a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Psychiatry and Mental Health Nursing. They gained a variety of experience in hospitals, community mental health centers, and private practice focusing on mood disorders and ADHD. Outside of private practice, she enjoys music, yoga, and mountain biking.

Message to clients

I offer medication management and supportive therapy to those struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and perinatal mood symptoms. I specialize in working with queer, neurodivergent, trans, polyamorous and ethically non-monogamous (ENM), and sex-positive individuals facing a variety of symptoms and challenges.

My approach to psychiatric care is collaborative, client-centered, trauma-informed, and holistic. I use validated diagnostic tools and provide extensive psychoeducation to foster a collaborative therapeutic relationship. Together we will develop an evidence-based plan that addresses the whole person through thoughtful prescribing and tailored interventions based on your unique needs and strengths.

I adopt an accepting and relational therapeutic approach, incorporating techniques from CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and more. Whether you're looking to manage stress, executive dysfunction, burnout, or dissociative symptoms; explore your identity; navigate grief; or handle life transitions, I create a safe, accepting environment to enhance coping skills and build resilience. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, focused, and empowered in your daily life.
