Professional statement

Dr. Curran is a board-certified psychiatrist (medical doctor) who offers in-depth weekly psychodynamic psychotherapy. She uses medication only when it thoughtfully supports the therapy work. Trained extensively in psychoanalytically-oriented psychodynamic psychotherapy, Dr. Curran brings more than three decades of experience to her work.

Dr. Curran works with those who wish to gain a deeper understanding of themselves to create meaningful changes in their lives. She listens thoughtfully and openly, exploring various dimensions of her patients' experience. Over time she builds a warm and trusting therapeutic relationship. Through this process she supports patients in understanding their inner world, enhancing fulfillment in their relationships and finding greater satisfaction in their daily lives.

Her double board certification enhances her ability to consider the developmental factors that shape how we think, feel and act. She’s been in private clinical practice since 1997 and meets with patients exclusively in telehealth sessions.

Message to clients

Change comes from understanding ourselves more deeply. In my work, I take an in-depth, supportive approach to therapy, helping you uncover the roots of emotional difficulties so you can create lasting growth - not just find temporary relief. Together, we’ll explore how early and current experiences shape your relationships and work toward a deeper sense of connection, fulfillment, and balance in your life.

If this approach resonates with you, I invite you to reach out to me via my secure email on the link below to share your psychotherapy goals with me. If the fit seems likely, I'll reach out to meet in a free 15 minute telehealth session to answer your questions further. Also read about my practice on psychology today.

Please note that I do not take insurance. Nor do I participate with Medicare or Medicaid/Masshealth. I provide a superbill after each session to support your out-of-network reimbursement from commercial insurance. It is the responsibility of each patient to work with their insurance company directly for reimbursement. My superbill includes all of the information they request when you file a claim. People with PPO type insurance plans often receive significant reimbursements.

All clients are required to keep a current credit card on file, which will be charged after each billable service. Many clients use their PPO out-of-network benefits. I provide a superbill for the client to seek reimbursement from non-Medicare commercial insurance. The practice doesn't file claims for clients. Insurance companies vary as to whether they cover therapy services. Contact your insurance company if you have questions about using your insurance.
