Professional statement

Dr. Dargani is a psychiatrist who works with adults seeking thoughtful, individualized care for a broad range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma-related difficulties, relationship challenges, burnout, and major life transitions. He has a particular interest in working with individuals navigating existential concerns, questions of meaning and identity, grief and loss, and end-of-life issues. His practice is especially well suited to patients looking for psychiatric treatment that integrates both medical and psychological perspectives in a collaborative and reflective way.

Dr. Dargani approaches treatment through a combination of psychotherapy and evidence-based psychiatric care, including medication management when appropriate. He believes that medications can play an important and meaningful role in treatment when integrated into a broader understanding of a person’s emotional life, relationships, history, and goals. Rather than focusing on symptom reduction alone, his work emphasizes helping patients develop greater insight, emotional flexibility, and a deeper understanding of themselves and their experiences.

His therapeutic approach draws from psychodynamic psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed work, and attachment-based perspectives, while also incorporating somatic awareness and contemplative approaches when clinically helpful. He is interested in the ways emotional experiences are expressed both psychologically and physically, and works collaboratively with patients to develop treatment plans tailored to their individual needs and values.

Dr Dargani has also received training in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and currently offers preparation and integration sessions for individuals pursuing ketamine treatment as part of their broader healing process. His approach to integration work emphasizes safety, reflection, emotional processing, and the thoughtful incorporation of insights into ongoing therapeutic work.

Dr. Dargani offers telehealth throughout New York State. He works with adults in psychotherapy, medication management, and combined treatment formats, depending on each patient’s goals and clinical needs.

Message to clients

I believe psychiatric treatment works best when there is space not only to address symptoms, but also to better understand the emotional, relational, and existential dimensions of a person’s experience. Many people come to treatment feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, or uncertain about how to move forward. My goal is to create a collaborative and thoughtful space where we can work toward symptom relief while also exploring the deeper patterns, experiences, and questions that may be contributing to distress.

My approach integrates psychotherapy with evidence-based psychiatric treatment, including medication management when appropriate. I view medications as one potentially valuable component of care, and I work closely with patients to develop treatment plans that are individualized, practical, and aligned with their goals and values. I draw from psychodynamic psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed approaches, attachment-based perspectives, and somatic and contemplative practices when clinically helpful.

In our work together, I may invite patients to reflect on what experiences such as anxiety, depression, burnout, or existential distress may be trying to communicate about their lives, relationships, values, or unmet needs. Rather than viewing symptoms solely as problems to eliminate, I often approach them as meaningful signals that deserve curiosity and attention. This perspective can help create a deeper understanding of oneself and open space for emotional growth, self-compassion, and more authentic ways of living and relating.
