Professional statement

Aiko Takemura helps clients who want to feel better, get unstuck, build healthy relationships, and live life to their full potential. Aiko supports her clients in releasing their trauma, reclaiming their truth, and realizing their dreams through experiential activities and group coaching sessions. She values her clients' unique past experiences and encourages them to choose their own paths to healing. She believes that the past experiences of trauma do not define clients' future. Healing is possible for everyone.

Aiko maintains her New York State and Washington State licenses and strives to hone her skills. She has completed her training with Patrick Teahan, a childhood trauma specialist. She offers Relationship Recovery Process Groups to support her clients in the recovery of relational trauma.

In addition, Aiko encourages her clients to learn mindfulness skills and increase tolerance and ability to process difficult emotions. She uses Emotional Freedom Technique, Yoga, and Breathwork. She is a trained energy psychology practitioner.

After Aiko obtained a Master's Degree in Social Work, she worked as a therapist in a large hospital and community mental health setting until she opened her private practice. She attends training and conferences to assist clients effectively. Her past focus and interests include Cognitive Behavioral Model, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Yoga, Mindfulness, and Energy Psychology. As a childhood trauma survivor herself, she understands the importance of her healing. The methods she uses to work with her clients are tried and tested by her healing journey.

Aiko offers both individual and group counseling. She has an office in Canandaigua, NY, where she meets with local clients. Many of her clients work virtually from all over New York State.

Message to clients

I am so honored to meet my clients and to get to know them. I truly enjoy getting to know my clients and their stories, and how they reached where they are. Often, I am so inspired by their strengths and courage. I do my very best to get to know you as thoroughly as I can, because I believe that my attempt to know you is how you might discover what's been hidden inside you. I often wonder what it is like to sit across from me and begin telling me your troubles and challenges. I sense that my sincere attempt to understand you goes a long way.

Having a good match with a new therapist isn't easy. From the moment I meet with you, you can expect me to be transparent and real so that you can decide whether I am a good match for what you're looking for. The alliance you build with the therapist of your choice is important to your healing. Just like any other relationship, the process is tenuous at first, but there needs to be a basic affinity from the get-go. I welcome your questions and feedback at any point in our work together.

You can count on me to hold space for you, support your journey, hold you accountable, and honor your individuality. I look forward to meeting you!
