Professional statement

Andrea Sheth is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Flatiron District in Manhattan who sees individuals with a range of issues, including depression and anxiety, PTSD, grief/loss, interpersonal problems, and personality issues.

Her special interests include working with those who have a history of past trauma, including childhood physical and sexual abuse, and working with creativity issues—identifying and working through blocks to the creative process. She also has extensive experience working with adults who have experienced loss through suicide or a sudden death; medical trauma; and trauma and anxiety related to climate change.

Andrea utilizes both evidence-based and insight-oriented therapies to help clients both better understand how past events and experiences have shaped how they view the world today and gain new coping strategies and tools. She validates her clients’ feelings and offers them the space to move at their own pace. She also offers the option to journal together as a way to process feelings and experiences.

Andrea wants her clients to feel empowered and supported on their journey towards healing. Prior to going into private practice full-time, she worked at St. Luke’s as part of a team who worked with women with a history of trauma. She is currently a member of the Climate Psychology Alliance. Her office is conveniently located near the 23rd. Street subway station.

Message to clients

Going through a life transition or a major crisis does not have to be isolating. Making the decision to go to therapy is important to getting the guidance and support that is needed. If it's your first time or you have sought therapy out before, my primary goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment. My approach is interactive, and I work collaboratively on the issues that are brought to focus. We can work together on the areas that need attention and build on the path towards healing.
