Professional statement

I am a Lacanian psychoanalyst who works with adults and children interested in examining the unconcious elements operative in one's life. This helps address personal barriers to desired goals in relationships, professional standing and educational attaintment. Patients report working with me has led to a stronger sense of clarity of whats important to them, and a greater sense of agency in pursuing what is important to them. Generally speaking, this occurs when the patient can figure out what is in the way of pursuing these goals that relate to experiences in their past.

This approach involves a productive dialogue that encourages you to speak as openly as possible on whatever comes to mind. Dreams are also analyzed in a traditional analytic frame. My role is to facilitate speech on specific internal conflicts that remain unresolved and I provide the 'room' and interest in your experience necessary for the patient to develop their own conclusions and resolutions.

I am a fully Licensed LCSW in New York State, and I am currently a Ph.D candidate in advanaced standing within my dissertation phase. I have been a practicing mental health professional for over 13 years.

I have a private office space in Potsdam with an analytic couch. I also offer virtual sessions as well.

Message to clients

I became a Lacanian psychoanalyst because when I was suffering with psychological distress I found many of the approaches offered in psychotherapy did not help me address the core issues leading to my dissatisfaction and unhappiness I was regularly experiencing. I realized that what I was struggling with related to a sense of feeling conflicted about the person I was and how that related to my experiences with other people, and how I seemed to connect with people who reinforced this sentiment. This process for myself, helped me see a 'good' in myself that I was only initially able to experience as something wrong. Now, I dedicate my life to helping others do the same, this being, to help my patients take both themselves, and their experience. seriously.
