Professional statement

Anja Lee is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with over 15 years of experience supporting college students and young adults through periods of transition, overwhelm, and identity development. Anja specializes in working with individuals navigating anxiety, burnout, academic stress, and questions around purpose and direction, with a particular expertise in working with pre-medical and high achieving students navigating the unique pressures of academic and career demands.

Anja’s background includes extensive work within private universities and community colleges, where she provided both academic advising and mental health support. Her clinical style blends practical tools with a calming, relational presence. Her approach is warm, collaborative, and culturally affirming and she prides herself on creating a safe, grounded space where clients feel heard and understood. She draws from mindfulness, strengths-based work, and cognitive-behavioral tools when helpful, but sessions are always guided by the client’s story, pace, and needs in the moment.

As a Black woman with Caribbean roots, Anja brings a culturally responsive lens to therapy and centers the lived experiences of clients navigating race, gender, family expectations, and systemic stressors. She offers a therapeutic space where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered.

Anja provides individual therapy for young adults throughout Rhode Island via secure telehealth and is currently accepting private-pay clients.

Message to clients

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here.

Starting therapy is a brave step, especially if you’re used to holding a lot on your own. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed by college or life changes, struggling with anxiety or burnout, or simply unsure who you are outside of expectations. You don’t need to have all the answers — you just need a safe place to begin.

In our work together, I’ll meet you with warmth, honesty, and steady support. My goal is to create a space to help you reconnect with yourself through deep listening, untangling what feels complicated and reminding you of your strengths when stress makes them hard to see. Your goals, needs and comfort will always guide our work and I will strive to create an environment where you leave each session feeling more grounded, supported and hopeful.

If you’re a student, young adult, or emerging professional looking for a therapist who understands the unique pressures of your stage of life, I’d be honored to support you.
