Professional statement

Dr. Ashely Carreras is a Psychologist located in Saint Petersburg, FL who works with young adults and adults. She specializes in supporting those who find themselves constantly ruminating thoughts or memories, which can lead to heightened anxiety and an inability to feel relaxed. This can also look like second guessing themselves or acting on perfectionist tendencies, which can become interruptive in daily life including relationships. These thoughts and patterns may be related to past traumatic experiences, or they may be the result of major life transitions like starting or finishing college.

Dr. Carreras practices a therapy approach called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which leverages the brain’s natural processing ability to code distressing thoughts and memories in the past. This can let individuals move on from trauma impacts and learn how to cope with stress. She also practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and narrative therapy, integrating mindfulness into her sessions.

Dr. Carreras earned a PsyD from Nova Southeastern University and has nearly 10 years of experience as a psychologist. She is passionate about working with women and supporting them grow, finding confidence and clarity in their lives. She is a down-to-earth therapist who strives to create a comfortable, nonjudgmental atmosphere in her sessions where clients feel safe to better understand themselves and make changes in their lives.

Message to clients

I’m really glad you found your way here. If you’re an anxious woman, I want you to know you don’t have to “have it together” to start this process. You don’t need perfect words, a clear plan, or the “right” way to feel—just showing up is enough. I know anxiety can feel loud, exhausting, and at times isolating, and my hope is that this becomes a place where you can finally exhale a little and feel less alone in it.

In our time together, I’ll show up as a warm, engaged presence, not a blank slate. I’ll actively participate in the process with you, offering thoughtful reflections and gently challenging you when it feels supportive and helpful, always with care and respect for your pace. My goal is to help you build tools and skills so anxiety doesn’t control your life anymore, and so you can feel more grounded, more confident, and more in control of your day-to-day experience. You’re always in control of what you share, and we’ll move in a way that feels safe while also helping you grow.
