Many of Dr. Ashley Carreras’s clients appear high-functioning on the outside, but internally feel overwhelmed by anxiety, overthinking, self-doubt, and the pressure to “get everything right.” They may struggle with perfectionism, imposter syndrome, people-pleasing, or difficulty setting boundaries, leaving them emotionally exhausted and disconnected from themselves. Others may feel stuck in cycles of chronic worry, panic, social anxiety, or self-criticism that impact their relationships, work, and overall well-being.
Dr. Carreras is a licensed psychologist in Saint Petersburg, FL who works with young adults and adults, with a special focus on helping women navigate anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, perfectionism, and major life transitions. As a Cuban American psychologist and military spouse, she brings warmth, authenticity, and cultural understanding into the therapy space. She is passionate about helping clients feel more confident, emotionally grounded, and secure in themselves and their relationships.
Clients often describe Dr. Carreras as approachable, compassionate, and easy to talk to. She strives to create a therapy experience that feels supportive, collaborative, and nonjudgmental, where clients can feel safe enough to be honest, vulnerable, and fully themselves.
Her therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, mindfulness, and narrative therapy. She helps clients move beyond simply managing symptoms by addressing the deeper roots of anxiety, trauma, and self-critical thought patterns. Through therapy, clients can learn healthier coping strategies, process difficult experiences, improve self-esteem, strengthen boundaries, and feel more present and confident in their daily lives.
At The Gratitude Center, therapy is intended to feel calm, welcoming, and comforting. Clients may also be greeted by Belladonna and Marigold, the practice’s gentle therapy dogs, who help create a soothing and grounding environment.
Dr. Carreras earned her PsyD from Nova Southeastern University and has nearly 10 years of experience helping clients heal from trauma, reduce anxiety, and create meaningful, lasting change in their lives.
