Bryan Batista-Thomas, LCSW is a psychoanalytically trained clinician in private practice in Midtown Manhattan. He works with adults who are interested in in-depth, exploratory psychotherapy and who are seeking a deeper understanding of themselves and their inner lives.
Many people who come to see Bryan are thoughtful and capable in their external lives, yet experience persistent inner conflict, emotional emptiness, or dissatisfaction that has not shifted through prior therapy. His work often involves exploring questions of identity, intimacy, sexuality, creativity, and the ways early experience continues to shape present-day relationships and self-experience.
Bryan’s approach is grounded in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and emphasizes careful attention to emotional experience, memory, and unconscious process. Treatment is open-ended and unfolds over time, rather than focusing on quick solutions or symptom management.
Bryan received his Master of Social Work from New York University and completed postgraduate training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis at the William Alanson White Institute and the Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research (IPTAR). He also holds a Master of Arts in Performance Studies from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
Bryan maintains a private, out-of-network practice. He sees patients in person in Midtown Manhattan and offers virtual sessions to adults in New York State, Massachusetts, Georgia, and Kentucky.
