Professional statement

Bryan Leach is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with both individuals and couples in NY (remote and in-person) and VA (remote).

Many of Bryan's clients begin therapy because they feel stuck, often indicating that "doing everything right" has not made them as happy as they had hoped it would. Bryan provides a judgment-free space for clients to explore these feelings and gain insight into their characteristic ways of operating, which in turn create a pathway to long-term change.

Bryan’s approach to therapy is rooted in evidence-based, psychodynamic principles, which focus on the impact of unresolved internal conflicts, relationships with others, and sense of self on how people understand and interact with the world around them. Bryan also incorporates relational elements into his practice, utilizing the therapeutic relationship as both a source of support and a vehicle for change.

Bryan is a culturally aware provider who tailors treatment to the unique needs of each client. He has extensive experience working with clients from a wide range of backgrounds, including many who identify as being part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Bryan is also uniquely suited to support individuals working in both high-pressure corporate settings and the performing arts, as he has years of personal experience working in the fields of digital marketing, investment banking, and theatre.

Bryan is currently offering in-person sessions at his office in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City, as well as remote sessions via video conference.

Message to clients

I believe that therapy provides people a unique opportunity to explore and understand themselves in a way that is empowering and transformative. It’s easy to get caught up in the same routines and patterns of behavior you’ve always known, including those that don’t work for you anymore. Creating a space to delve into those patterns, explore your feelings about them, and consider new ways of being with yourself and others can be a meaningful catalyst for change.

I enjoy getting to know my clients and developing a deep understanding of who they are, what they want in life, and how we can work together to get there. I utilize evidence-based techniques to support clients in the pursuit of their treatment goals, all while respecting them as the experts on their own lives, showing genuine curiosity, and allowing space for our shared humanity in the consulting room. Therapy is a collaborative and deeply personal process, and I am grateful that I have the opportunity to be a part of it.
