Professional statement

When facing depression, anxiety, or a cancer diagnosis, having the right emotional support can make all the difference. As a certified Oncology Social Worker (OSW-C), Candice Tummillo has dedicated her career to providing compassionate therapeutic support for individuals and families navigating the cancer journey.

Candice's approach combines deep clinical expertise with genuine understanding. After earning her Master’s Degree from the University of Pennsylvania, she began her journey at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, where she developed a strong foundation in supporting patients through complex medical and emotional challenges.

As the lead oncology practitioner at Shore Medical Center in Somers Point, NJ, Candice worked closely with patients, caregivers, and families, understanding that cancer affects not just individuals, but entire support systems. This experience, combined with Candice's oncology certification, has given her unique insight into the varied emotional and psychological needs that arise during cancer treatment and recovery,

Message to clients

As someone undergoing cancer treatment, you feel vulnerable, scared, anxious, and uncertain about your life. The constant worry and invasive treatments often ignite feelings of hopelessness, regret, powerlessness, guilt, and loss. Because of this tornado of emotions, you lose control over what you thought your life would be.

Such chaos is encapsulated in the following poem by Claude McKay, a Harlem Renaissance Poet: "Touching the surface and the depth of things, Instinctively responsive unto both, Tasting the sweets of being and the stings, Sensing the subtle spell of changing forms, Like a strong tree against a thousand storms."

The question now is what to do next? I will support you as you face the uncertainty and chaos that is rapidly unfolding. Together, we will journey into the unknown by sitting with emergent feelings, sensations, and needs. By honoring whatever is experienced, you will discover the trust, awareness, and acceptance to live as you are.

You are not alone in your suffering. Experience warmth, understanding, curiosity, grace, and safety. I would be delighted to have the honor of working with you as a therapist. Wishing you happiness, peace, and love.

Please contact me to schedule a no cost 15-minute consultation.

All the best,

Candice
