Professional statement

Carolyn Cutillo, MHC-LP, helps adults and young adults thrive. Her clients are often high-achieving, perfectionistic professionals and artists who are dealing with stress, anxiety, and overwhelm. They may have relationship difficulties, struggling with self-esteem issues and knowing their own worth. They may also be wondering how to make sense of their purpose and find meaning in their lives.

Before Carolyn was a therapist, she earned a BFA in Drama at New York University and was a working actor. She knows well the highs and lows of a life in the arts, a life that can mean juggling numerous jobs and obligations while nurturing one's creative passion. While it can be extremely fulfilling to follow your dreams, whatever they may be, it can also involve devastating rejection, loneliness, and despair. But it doesn't have to be this way.

Carolyn's background is in positive psychology, or the study of human happiness and potential. She imbues that into all her work with clients, aiming to help them not only survive, but thrive. Her philosophy is that therapy doesn't need to be forever to cause lasting changes in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. She empowers clients to approach therapy with goals for change and take continual steps toward change, through learned coping skills paired with a deeper understanding of internal conflicts.

With training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), plus an eclectic approach incorporating other modalities such as IFS, Carolyn is equipped to tailor her work with you in an active, collaborative way. Carolyn sees clients via telehealth only on weekdays, and can offer flexible evening availability. She is LGBTQ+ affirming.
