Dr. Catherine Hoefliger is a clinical psychologist in Providence, Rhode Island. She specializes in childhood trauma and works with clients individually and in groups. Many of Dr. Hoefliger's clients come to address childhood trauma, depression and Complex PTSD.
Dr. Catherine Hoefliger trained in Relational Recovery Process, a childhood trauma approach that focuses on healing the inner child and fosters the recovery of a healthy attachment with oneself and others. Relational Recovery Process addresses how childhood trauma negatively impacts the present and makes the unconscious conscious while integrating the traumatized part from the past with the wise adult part in the present. She also uses an eclectic approach including mindfulness bases practices.
In session, Dr. Hoefliger focuses on fostering knowledge about trauma, awareness of oneself, family of origin and distortions, experientials, emphasizing the experience of grief and rage necessary to feel in order to heal. In addition, bringing an inner felt sense of safety, recognizing and coming out of flashbacks, conflict resolution and building intimacy with oneself and others are pivotal in her practice.
Dr. Hoefliger's approach supports clients to heal from depression, traumatic symptoms, experience an increased felt sense of safety, recover a healthy relationship with themselves, others, build intimacy and open up to the peace and joy that their present life offers.
