Chris Mooney, LCSW, is a licensed therapist in Connecticut and New York who works with children, adolescents, young adults and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, psychotic experiences, relational challenges, and life transitions. He supports clients in building insight, resilience, and emotional flexibility through periods of discomfort, uncertainty, and change. Many of Chris’s clients come to therapy feeling stuck or unsure of how to move forward. Through therapy, they learn to tolerate life’s difficulties and begin to reclaim a sense of agency and meaning.
Chris draws from a range of evidence-based and experiential approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and Ecotherapy. His work is grounded in curiosity, compassion, and true collaboration. Rather than pathologizing, Chris helps clients explore how their patterns make sense in the context of their lives and what needs to be adjusted. He creates a space that feels safe to explore, reflect, and grow.
With over 20 years of experience, Chris’s work is deeply shaped by his years in community-based treatment, often meeting people outside of traditional therapy settings, in schools, homes, and the outdoors. This background taught him the value of flexibility, trust, and meeting people where they are. Whether working with a child learning to regulate emotions, a teen navigating anxiety, or an adult confronting a life transition, he brings a calm, grounded presence and deep respect for each person’s process.
Chris sees clients in person in Litchfield, Connecticut, and offers telehealth sessions to clients across both Connecticut and New York. He welcomes new individuals, couples, and families, and offers a free 15-minute consultation to help determine whether working together feels like a good fit.
