Dr. Desiree Howell works primarily with neurodivergent adults who are seeking clarity, self-understanding, and validation through Autism and ADHD assessments. She specializes in working with high-masking, late-identified women and nonbinary adults who may have spent much of their lives feeling “different,” chronically overwhelmed, or misunderstood despite being highly capable and accomplished. Many of the clients she serves are professionals who have learned to camouflage their needs and strengths in order to succeed, often at the cost of burnout, anxiety, or self-doubt.
Her assessment approach is neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, and collaborative. Dr. Howell views Autism and ADHD not as deficits to be “fixed,” but as natural variations in how nervous systems process the world. She emphasizes understanding each client’s unique profile of strengths, challenges, sensory needs, and coping strategies—especially those shaped by masking, gendered expectations, and societal pressures. The assessment process is designed to feel respectful, validating, and empowering rather than clinical or pathologizing.
Dr. Howell is a licensed counseling psychologist with over a decade of experience in mental health care. She has extensive training in working with neurodivergent adults, complex trauma, and high-achieving individuals, and she brings a deep understanding of how Autism and ADHD often present differently in women and late-identified adults. Her work is informed by both current research and lived experience narratives within the neurodivergent community, allowing her to bridge clinical rigor with real-world nuance.
At this time, Dr. Howell is accepting new clients exclusively for adult Autism and ADHD assessments. All assessments are conducted fully online, allowing clients to participate from the comfort of their own space. Services are private pay, with superbills provided for clients who wish to seek out-of-network reimbursement. She works with adults only and is licensed to provide services to clients located in approved states at the time of assessment.
