Professional statement

Born and raised in Los Angeles County, Erin is a true native Angelino. Being adopted at birth has had a large impact Erin's mental health journey. Starting at a young age, she spent many weekends volunteering my time at food banks creating grocery bags full of food for low income families, at senior living facilities spending time with residents, and at the local animal shelter walking and bathing dogs. A sense of providing support to others is something she is passionate about. At the age of nineteen Erin's father was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer and passed away after a short three month battle. Losing her father turned her life upside down and left her with her own battle against major depression and anxiety. Erin spent ten years after her father's passing working in marketing for non-profit organizations and ultimately ended up creating her own marketing and design company. While enjoyable, Erin felt she was not contributing to the betterment of others in the way she had hoped, and felt that something was missing.

It took a global pandemic to provide her with an awakening that led her to go back to school at the age of 37 to get her masters’ in family therapy at Pepperdine University. Erin's age, at first daunting, became something that made the process even more enriching because of her life experiences. Erin's personal struggle with ADHD as a child in a time when there was little focus on mental health care, complex trauma, and grief provided her an education she would not be able to learn in school. It is that real life experience coupled with academic knowledge that allows her to provide unique and intimate support to her clients.
