Professional statement

Grace Nyblade, is a clinical social worker licensed in both Maryland and Washington State. She is trained in a wide range of treatment modalities. Her favorites are Dialectic Behavior Therapy - both comprehensive and informed, Exposure and Response Prevention for Obsessive Compulsive Disorders and Self Compassion/Mindfulness. She maintains training and credentials to work with all kinds of neuro-divergent diagnoses ADHD, OCD and Autism Spectrum. Grace is focused on providing as close to up-to-date research driven practice as is manageable without being in an academic setting like a University.

Grace focuses not on what the diagnoses is or could be. She would much rather find the things that you would like to learn about and the symptoms you would like to manage. She is a skill based therapist who pays for extra space on a google drive to manage the collection of worksheets and information packets for clients.

Grace maintains clients on both the West Coast and the East Coast. Her hours are flexible and she maintains on-call coaching hours for comprehensive DBT clients. She teaches both in person (Whatcom County, WA) and online DBT Groups and is looking at increasing groups in the new year to include chronic illness management and Self Compassion.

Message to clients

I love working with people in general. Most of my experience is with adolescents through adulthood (13 to 64 years old) however this is not a hard and fast rule. Under specific circumstances I can work with younger or older than this range. Reach out and ask questions. I am excited to work with and support all kinds of things. I will try to help you find the right fit if I am not it. I have specializations and again this is not an exhaustive list:

1. Self-harm and Chronic Suicidality - Let’s build a life worth living together. I have extensive training with Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), Radically Open - Dialectic Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).

2. LGBTQIA2s+ - This community is dear to my heart and supporting transitions or coming out or the struggle of the current political climate is important to me. I have joined with many people in this journey and I am honored by their stories.

3. Neuro-divergence - Brains are fascinating. Whether you are diagnosed or not. Curious, exploring, struggling with coping with diagnosis and want to learn. I am here for all of it. I continue to learn from clients and work to apply what adaptations I can from traditional therapies. The research wheels turn slowly and we don’t have the answers yet. Let’s find what works for you.
