Hana Tran is a Licensed Master Social Worker providing psychodynamic therapy to adolescents and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, grief, life transitions, and those with questions of identity and/or relationships. She holds a Master of Social Work from Hunter College (CUNY) and completed clinical training at a public high school and a community health center in Brooklyn. Hana practices at Union Square Psychotherapy, where she offers in-person sessions from a consulting room in downtown Manhattan, as well as virtual therapy throughout New York State.
Before training as a social worker, Hana was an arts producer, collaborating with artists and arts non-profits for more than a decade to bring creative visions to life. She holds a BA in History of Art from Amherst College and an MA from The Courtauld Institute of Art, where she studied contemporary art, sexuality, violence, and psychoanalysis. Her approach to therapy is informed by this interdisciplinary background in art and social work.
Hana is queer, Asian, and a child of immigrants. She often works with LGBTQ+ people and those navigating non-monogamous relationships. She is attuned to intergenerational echoes of war, settler colonial violence, and migration. Hana is committed to anti-racist principles and action. Her approach to psychotherapy uses an individualized and collaborative process to create space for the patient's inner life—their experiences of love, loss, dreams, fears, and desires. This kind of treatment makes it possible to experience oneself with greater coherence, compassion, and hope.

My full fee is $200 per 45-minute session. I work on a sliding scale, which means that we will set a fee based on your unique financial considerations. I believe that therapy should be accessible and affordable to all, especially to those without access to generational wealth and those from historically oppressed groups. If you are interested in working together but are concerned about the associated costs, please reach out to discuss my sliding scale pricing.
I am not on panel with any insurance companies. I provide superbills to patients using their out-of-network benefits.
