Message to clients

Dear You,

My name is Jacob Cook. I view counseling as a process of reflection, growth, progress, and change. Functionally, you are the driver of these sessions. I am a passenger with a road map here to support you in heading in the direction of your choosing. This is how I conceptualize client focused/ client driven sessions. I provide psychoeducation as needed, and am willing and able to discuss any questions that you may have around the therapeutic process, and psychology as a whole.

My hope is that through our sessions, you can gain a greater understanding of yourself, the place you have in this world, and in so doing support you in understanding your purpose, and improve your quality of life. I believe that everyone deserves to live a life worth living, to the extent that their behaviors and choices don't impede on anyone else's safety or rights. People deserve a chance to learn and grow and become their most self-actualized selves. It's important to understand that everything from Sleep, Diet, physical health, and spiritual health all play a role in mental health, and vice versa. Everything is connected.

Of course, each therapist has a different approach to therapy, and not every approach works for every person. If you ever feel like we aren't a good fit, please feel free to bring this up, and I would love to help you connect with someone that might be a better fit.
