Professional statement

Dr. Jeff Spodak is a psychologist located in New York, NY. He works with young adults and adults, specializing in cycles of addiction, including sex addiction and alcohol addiction. Many of his clients face emotional fallout from a change in their relationship status, such as divorce or separation. They feel intense loneliness or a sense of shame, which can lead to anxiety or depression. Dr. Spodak also enjoys working with artists who would like to focus their sessions around their creativity or blocks.

Sessions with Dr. Spodak are nonjudgmental and empathetic. Instead of focusing on fixing the individual symptoms of life challenges, Dr. Spodak encourages clients to understand the root causes of certain emotions and then understanding how to affect healthy change. He draws from psychodynamic and psychoanalytic therapy, gently prompting clients through exploration of their inner worlds including their deeply held beliefs or assumptions.

Dr. Spodak earned a PsyD from Yeshiva University. He has over 20 years of experience as a therapist and brings a deep sense of support to each session with clients. He is passionate about providing culturally sensitive, trauma-informed therapeutic care and strives to help clients lead the lives they want to lead.
