Professional statement

I’m an Asian queer therapist based in NYC, offering sessions in English and Mandarin. I work closely with BIPOC, queer, and first-generation clients who often feel suspended between cultures and identities, carrying expectations that never quite match who they really are. Many of the people I meet speak of trying to be the good student, the devoted child, the dependable partner, while privately feeling invisible and exhausted. You may know the weight of appearing composed while inside you are worn down by burnout, loneliness, or the quiet fear that something vital is slipping away.

There are seasons in life when the stories we’ve lived by begin to fall apart. The roles we’ve played no longer fit, the plans we made no longer hold, and the ways we’ve coped begin to fray at the edges. Sometimes this comes after a loss, a rupture, or a crisis. Other times it arrives more quietly, with burnout, numbness, or a sense that something essential is missing. I see therapy as a space to make sense of these moments, not by rushing to rebuild, but by sitting in the in-between. To pause. To ask better questions. To remember choice, even when things feel beyond our control.

Message to clients

Therapy with me is a space where you don’t have to explain away your complexity. My approach is grounded in psychodynamic and existential thought, shaped by trauma-informed and relational practices. I also work integratively when needed: drawing from narrative therapy, vocational support, and practical strategies to meet you where you are. Whether we’re unpacking the past or navigating the uncertainty of a major life transition.

I work with adults navigating identity, substance use and recovery, grief, cultural dislocation, and relational challenges. Many of the people I have worked with are immigrants, creatives, LGBTQ+ individuals, or people living between languages and roles: those who’ve had to rebuild more than once. I offer therapy in both English and Mandarin.
