Professional statement

Jocelyn Welch, LICSW is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with more than three decades of experience helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and transitions. She provides online psychotherapy for adults, supporting clients experiencing depression, anxiety, grief and loss, life transitions, perinatal mental health concerns, and the stresses of college and young adulthood.

Jocelyn also has a special interest in international relocation and cross-cultural transitions. Having lived overseas herself, she understands the emotional impact of leaving familiar surroundings, adapting to new cultures, and redefining one’s sense of home and identity.

Her therapeutic approach blends insight-oriented psychotherapy with practical tools for change. She integrates evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and Mindful Self-Compassion practices, helping clients develop greater resilience, emotional balance, and a kinder relationship with themselves.

With the perspective that comes from both extensive clinical experience and life lived, Jocelyn offers a grounded, compassionate presence. She works collaboratively with clients to help them gain clarity, navigate uncertainty, and move through difficult periods with greater self-understanding and confidence.

While living In Rome, Italy, Jocelyn was part of an international network of healthcare professionals supporting women who were pregnant while living outside their home countries. This experience deepened her appreciation for the importance of community, cultural sensitivity, and emotional support during times of major life change.

Client testimonials

"I've been to several therapists for different issues over the years. Jocelyn is truly the best of the best, and I cannot recommend her more highly. I always felt heard and well cared for in sessions with Jocelyn, and I always felt better leaving a session than I did when we started. I started working with Jocelyn at the very beginning of COVID, so we were remote (video sessions) the entire time we were working together. It did not affect the experience whatsoever, and if anything, was even better than in-person as it made it so much easier to keep my weekly sessions. I could not have gotten through this pandemic without her kindness, help, and support!"

She is unfailingly attentive, wise, caring, and present—there to listen and give you space but also ready to offer insight and gentle guidance.
