Professional statement

Kaitlyn Mecham is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor based in Idaho who works with preteens, teens, and adults navigating a wide range of emotional and relational challenges. Many of her clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, low mood, or the impact of past experiences, and are looking for a space where they can better understand themselves and feel more grounded in their day-to-day lives. Kaitlyn has a particular interest in supporting adolescents and young adults as they move through developmental transitions, including school-related stress, identity exploration, peer relationships, and family dynamics.

Kaitlyn’s approach is both structured and supportive, blending evidence-based practices with a collaborative, individualized lens. She draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Reality Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy to help clients better understand patterns in their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, while also building practical skills for change. Kaitlyn is known for her action-oriented style - gently challenging unhelpful patterns while offering clear tools and strategies that clients can apply outside of session. At the same time, she prioritizes creating a space that feels safe, nonjudgmental, and attuned to each client’s unique experience.

With a strong foundation in trauma-informed care, Kaitlyn supports clients in processing both past and present experiences with care and intention. She is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and incorporates creative modalities, including elements of play and sandtray therapy, when appropriate. This integrative approach allows her to meet clients where they are, whether they benefit from structured skill-building, expressive work, or a combination of both.

Kaitlyn offers in-person sessions in the Eagle, Idaho area and provides telehealth services for clients located throughout the state. She works with individuals across the lifespan, including preteens (12+), teens, adults, and older adults, and strives to make therapy an accessible and supportive part of each client’s routine.

Message to clients

Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, and I want you to know you don’t have to navigate it alone. Whether you’re seeking support for yourself or for your child, my goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable showing up as you are - without pressure to have everything figured out. Starting therapy can bring up a mix of emotions, and we’ll move at a pace that feels manageable and supportive for you.

In our work together, I’ll help you (or your child) better understand what’s being experienced while also offering practical tools that can be used in everyday life. I take an active and collaborative approach, meaning we’ll not only explore what’s going on beneath the surface, but also focus on how to create meaningful, lasting change. When working with preteens and teens, I also value partnering with parents in a thoughtful and balanced way, so everyone feels supported in the process.

My hope is that through our work, you or your child begin to feel more confident, more connected in relationships, and better equipped to navigate life’s challenges. Wherever you’re starting from, I’m here to walk alongside you.
