Katrina Usher works with bright, capable adults who are functioning well on the outside, struggling with relational or career burnout, and needing to find a new way forward. Many of her clients are navigating relationship difficulties, career burnout, or midlife transitions, and often arrive with a long history of overfunctioning, managing others’ needs, or pushing themselves past their limits. A number of people she works with identify as neurodivergent later in life or have spent years feeling subtly out of step, misunderstood, or unsure where they truly belong.
Her therapeutic approach is depth-oriented and relational, grounded in trauma-informed, psychodynamic, and Internal Family Systems perspectives. Rather than focusing on quick strategies or symptom management alone, Katrina emphasizes slowing down and listening carefully to emotional pain as meaningful information. She understands distress as something that often signals the need for growth, creativity, and a more fully inhabited life, and she supports clients in developing a deeper, more compassionate relationship with themselves so that change can unfold in a grounded and sustainable way.
In the work, attention is given to long-standing patterns, protective strategies, relational dynamics, and the parts of the psyche that learned early how to cope and are still working very hard. Over time, clients often report feeling more solid internally, less reactive in relationships, and more able to access joy, creativity, and genuine connection.
Katrina is a licensed psychotherapist with over a decade of clinical experience working with adults. She brings a strong respect for the complexity of each person’s inner world and history, and her work is informed by ongoing training and consultation, clinical practice, and personal work. She is extensively trained and experienced in the Internal Family Systems model, as well as EMDR. She offers in-person sessions as well as remote therapy.
