Professional statement

Kayla Elder, LCSW, is a therapist based in Clifton Park, New York, who works with neurodivergent adults, LGBTQIA plus clients and individuals managing ADHD, autism, OCD, anxiety and trauma. She creates a space that is genuinely affirming and judgment free, where clients can show up exactly as they are and work toward feeling more regulated and understood.

Her approach is practical, supportive and individualized. Kayla uses evidence-based tools while also focusing on nervous system regulation, executive functioning, coping skills, and helping clients better understand their own patterns. She blends psychoeducation with real life strategies so people can make changes that actually stick.

Kayla offers both in person sessions at the Clifton Park office and virtual appointments for clients who prefer or need remote care. She accepts most major insurance plans!

Message to clients

Do you ever feel misunderstood or misdiagnosed? Do you notice that you are masking or feeling dysregulated? I'm a firm believer that the mind and heart can heal. Through our work together, you will leave feeling empowered to embrace your true self and learn to function and cope in a way you feel healthiest.

I specialize in working with neurodivergent adults. My experience allows me to offer ample support with interoception, nervous system regulation, psychoeducation on neurodiversity and the development of neurodivergent-affirming skills across all areas of life. I lead with a soft heart and kind approach and am open to feedback and curiosity, as therapy is a two-way street! My approach to therapy is pretty eclectic, pulling from all different types of evidence-based interventions, including humor. Above all, I offer a person-centered approach and will work diligently with each client to provide the treatment and interventions that suit them best.

I look forward to meeting with you and the privilege of getting to know all the things that make you, you. I know and understand just how important it is to work with a therapist who you feel really sees you and who will empower you to reach your goals. Let’s start that together!
