Professional statement

Kristin Ramsey, LPC, ATR-BC is a licensed therapist and board-certified art therapist serving clients in Virginia and Washington, DC. She works with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, identity exploration, and relationship challenges. Kristin offers an affirming and inclusive therapy space for clients of all backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+ and gender-diverse individuals.

Kristin’s approach integrates talk therapy, art therapy, mindfulness, and body-based awareness. She believes therapy begins with safety, authenticity, and collaboration, creating a space where clients can slow down, reflect, and begin to make sense of their experiences at a pace that feels right for them. When words alone don’t fully capture what someone is feeling, creative and somatic practices can provide meaningful ways to explore emotions, build insight, and reconnect with one’s inner resources.

Kristin practices from a trauma-informed, person-centered lens guided by curiosity, compassion, and respect for each client’s unique story. She also holds a certificate in therapy for the transgender community and is committed to providing gender-affirming care.

In addition to her clinical work, Kristin provides clinical supervision for LPC residents and for clinicians pursuing art therapy credentials, supporting emerging therapists as they develop their own authentic style and voice in the field.

Message to clients

Beginning therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s normal to feel uncertain about where to start. My hope is to offer a space where you can slow down, take a breath, and explore what’s been weighing on you at a pace that feels right for you. You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Curiosity and a willingness to begin are more than enough.

In our work together, I aim to create an environment that feels safe, collaborative, and grounded. Some sessions may focus on talking through your experiences, while others may include creative or body-based approaches that help you connect with what you’re feeling in new ways. There is no one “right” way to do therapy. We will work together to find what feels most supportive for you.

Above all, my hope is that therapy becomes a place where you can reconnect with your own insight, resilience, and capacity for change. You deserve support, understanding, and space to explore your experiences in a way that honors who you are.
