For over two decades, Dr. Lee Saltzman has helped people break through personal barriers, make new choices, and move toward greater well-being.
Her practice focuses on the needs of young adults as they navigate life transitions, establish careers, cultivate romantic and familial relationships, and embark on parenthood. Moving toward greater independence is exciting, but also often comes with emotional dysregulation, job stress, grief/loss, and tensions in relationships. Feelings of anxiety, depression, burnout, and imposter syndrome are common during early adulthood, and many people find that old coping strategies or behavior patterns don't serve their needs. Dr. Saltzman works with many high-functioning or "overachieving" professionals who appear to have it all under control, but are struggling inside. She has a particular focus on women's mental health, including fertility/infertility, pregnancy, motherhood, work/life balance, and relationship challenges, In addition, she specializes in Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) and helping adult children of emotionally immature parents.
Dr. Saltzman offers an integrative approach psychotherapy, which incorporates a variety of orientations and interventions to guide therapeutic work. This leads to therapy that's flexible and tailored to each individual's needs and goals, rather than a "manual" or one-size-fits-all approach. Dr. Saltzman's work is rooted in psychodynamic therapy, and often utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and relational therapy. By exploring the connection between feelings, thoughts, and behaviors, Dr. Saltzman helps her clients understand behavior patterns, develop better tools, and get "unstuck."
Dr. Saltzman is a NY and NJ licensed psychologist who has been in private practice since 2009. She was trained at top facilities including New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University and Kings County Hospital, and completed a Psy.D. at New York University (NYU). She works both in-person at her office near Grand Central Station and via telehealth on a HIPAA-compliant platform.
