Professional statement

Linsy is a Queer therapist who is Trans-affirming. She has over 10 years of experience helping individuals & families with grief, loss, life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma and more. Her current specialties are listed below in the specialties section along with her expertise.

She treats anxiety, depression, trauma and all types of grief and loss which comes in many forms such as death & dying, miscarriage, birth trauma, divorce, pet loss, adoption, dementia, absent parent, emotionally/physically absent people in your life, natural disasters, role changes/struggles (caregiver, empty nester, new parent, new job, loss of job...) and so many more.

She is a trained systems counselor, a death doula and a hospice volunteer which gives her a unique perspective on grief and how she supports clients. She is client focused and relational. She believes that the client and therapist relationship is integral to healing. She will support you as you navigate your deep feelings of loss, and once you feel held in your grief, she will begin to help you to make meaning of it.

Linsy also believes deeply that exploring our own death anxiety can impact one’s life in a rich and fulfilling way. If we can face our own death and truly understand that death is not separate from life but a part of it, we begin to make decisions in a more mindful way and to start to become more fully alive.

The clients she works with want someone who can sit with them and witness the deep, vulnerable and sometimes unexpected places that grief, trauma and emotions can take us. They want someone who throws out cultural constraints on what grief and loss is expected to look like, to accept them as they are and believe in their ability to heal.

Message to clients

I understand how hard it is to ask for help and to reach out for support. I commend you for being so brave. I am here so you do not have to go this alone, whether you are feeling depressed, anxious, isolated, overwhelmed, scared or in emotional pain. It is important to embrace our feelings and our grief, and then it will become more manageable, your relationship with it will shift and grow and you will begin to welcome the impactful role it plays in your life. But we are not meant to do it alone.

You can expect that I will meet you where you are at, witness and provide a safe space for you to express yourself. I will focus on building a trusting and supportive relationship where you feel comfortable exploring places within yourself and your life that may feel scary and vulnerable, to enable you to begin to heal.

I will pull from a number of different modalities and what that will look like will be talking about current and past experiences while mixing some psychodrama techniques. Psychodrama allows clients to get in touch with their inner child, to form corrective experiences and to have conversations with people in our lives to begin healing. And there may be times that I suggest homework to facilitate your healing and growth.
