Professional statement

Dr. Liza Auciello loves being a psychologist and values the opportunity to connect and collaborate with individuals who want meaningful change in their lives. She specializes in helping people break patterns that no longer serve them and develop new ways of relating that lead to greater satisfaction and well-being.

Dr. Auciello often says, “what you believe about yourself is untrue.” From childhood, we internalize stories about who we are—stories that are often negative, limiting, or outdated. These beliefs shape how we navigate the world and how we relate to others. Dr. Auciello helps clients understand the forces that drive their behavior and emotions so they can cultivate healthier communication patterns, tolerate stress more effectively, express emotions with confidence, and build deeper connection with their body, mind, and relationships.

Her approach is holistic, neuroscience-informed, and tailored to each person. She integrates somatic interventions, EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Positive Psychology, and Cognitive-Behavioral methods. Dr. Auciello also has advanced training and certification in working with neurodiverse individuals and couples. This specialized approach helps partners strengthen communication, improve emotional regulation, deepen intimacy, and navigate differences with greater clarity and understanding. Clients can expect a warm, direct, and collaborative space focused on growth, change, and fulfillment.

Having been an executive in the business world, Dr. Auciello understands the pressure, stress and skill development that goes along with career growth. Her work in the mental health field has also made her effective at helping clinicians prevent burnout and vicarious trauma.

Dr. Auciello provides virtual therapy through video conferencing in California and New York, and in-person sessions at a ranch in Malibu. The ranch provides a natural setting for therapy as well as equine facilitated growth experiences.

Dr. Auciello is a licensed clinical psychologist and a certified mindfulness instructor. She also studied Qigong, Yoga, Reiki and many paths of meditation.

Message to clients

Are you living the life you want? Do your habitual patterns get in the way of you being present in life and relationships? I’ve dedicated my life to helping people find more fulfillment and meaning in their connections with others and in life itself. If you need a life reboot, I can help you to identify the hidden commitments you have with yourself and to overcome the blocks that get in the way of you achieving your life priorities. Our work together can help you to heal and nurture your relationship with your body, mind and spirit so you can address challenges more easily and live your life with greater self-confidence and self-love.

My work is based in neuroscience. The methods you’ll experience will enable you to develop emotional agility, and to build a body and mind that supports the positive changes you want to see in your life. One of the many effective approaches I use, EMDR, can help you to process trauma, and to shift core negative beliefs you have about yourself to more positive and accurate beliefs. EMDR activates your brain’s ability to resolve deep wounds that negatively impact your relationships, life success and engagement with the world. EMDR can be integrated into weekly sessions. I also provide Intensive EMDR, a focused, short-term approach that involves meeting daily for one week in sessions of varying length as well as EMDR for recent traumatic events, designed to support individuals shortly after a distressing experience.
