Professional statement

Lydia Stevens, MFT, is a licensed psychotherapist providing therapy to adults across California, Georgia, and Florida, with in-person sessions available in Alpharetta, Georgia and virtual sessions in all three states.

She works with individuals who may be outwardly successful yet feel anxious, stuck, or dissatisfied in their relationships or sense of direction. Her approach is psychoanalytic and relational, grounded in the understanding that many current struggles are shaped by patterns developed over time. In therapy, Lydia offers a thoughtful and engaged space to explore these patterns, deepen emotional awareness, and create meaningful change. Rather than focusing solely on symptom relief, she helps clients gain insight into how past and present experiences influence how they think, feel, and relate. EMDR is incorporated when trauma or unresolved experiences are part of the work.

Lydia’s practice is well suited for adults navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, or longstanding emotional concerns who are seeking depth-oriented therapy rather than short-term strategies. She aims to foster a collaborative process where clients feel understood and supported while also gently challenged to grow.

She holds a master’s degree in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies and has been in private practice since 2018, drawing on experience in community mental health and private practice settings.

Message to clients

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you’re used to managing things on your own or appearing as though everything is fine on the surface. Many people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and used to pushing through, yet find themselves feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure why certain patterns keep repeating.

In our work together, I aim to create a space where you can slow down, think more deeply about what you’re experiencing, and begin to understand how your history, relationships, and emotions shape the present. Therapy with me is collaborative and reflective. We won’t rush to solutions, but instead focus on developing insight and emotional clarity that leads to meaningful, lasting change.

Whether you’re navigating a transition, relationship challenges, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, my hope is that therapy becomes a place where you can be curious, feel understood, and gradually find new ways of relating to yourself and others.
