Professional statement

Mallory Bodker, LMSW, has experience working with adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, identity development, complex trauma, acculturation stress, intimate partner violence, and gender dysphoria. She approaches therapy with an attuned, relational style that invites clients to explore emotionally complex experiences. Mallory is known for her empathetic presence and her ability to remain engaged and grounded during vulnerable conversations.

Her clinical work is informed by psychodynamic and relational theories, as well as social work values and culturally responsive care. She provides individualized therapy that considers cultural identity, social context, and environmental factors in the therapeutic process.

Mallory values authenticity in the therapeutic space and believes levity can coexist with depth, even in difficult conversations. She welcomes feedback and views the therapeutic relationship as an ongoing, reflective dialogue. During her Master’s training at New York University and since graduating, she has worked in school-based, community mental health, and private practice settings. Mallory aims to help clients develop greater self-awareness, cultivate self-compassion, and feel more empowered in their lives and relationships.

Message to clients

Hello and welcome! Whether you are navigating a life transition, struggling with anxiety or depression, creating boundaries, examining relationship dynamics, or hoping to get more deeply in touch with your authentic self, you are not alone. I believe going to therapy is one of the bravest and kindest acts someone can do for themselves. Looking inward can be scary and confusing, and reaching out is a courageous first step toward understanding yourself more fully and moving toward a life that feels more aligned. Together, we can explore how your past and present connect in a space that feels safe, curious, and nonjudgmental.

My work is rooted in psychodynamic and relational therapy, with an emphasis on cultural humility and understanding how emotional, relational, and behavioral patterns develop over time. I value showing up as a real person in the room and believe warmth and humor can support meaningful work.

Therapy with me is collaborative and reflective, grounded in respect for each person’s unique lived experience. We aim to slow things down, deepen awareness, and approach challenges with greater clarity and self-compassion. Whatever is on your mind or holding you back, I am here to listen and help guide you where you want to go.

Specialties

Anxiety - Anxiety is explored as a pattern shaped by earlier emotional and relational experiences, not just symptoms to manage. Treatment integrates insight-oriented work with carefully chosen CBT strategies to reduce avoidance and build a greater sense of safety and agency.

Depression - Depression is approached as a meaningful response to loss, internalized criticism, or long-standing relational patterns. Therapy combines depth-oriented exploration with CBT tools that support motivation, routine, and reconnection at a pace that fits the client.

Self-esteem - Self-esteem work focuses on understanding how early relationships and internalized beliefs shape self-worth, self-criticism, and assertiveness. Insight-oriented therapy is paired with CBT strategies to challenge entrenched self-judgments and support more compassionate, grounded ways of relating to oneself and others.

Codependency - Codependency is explored through patterns of attachment, boundary formation, and fears related to separation or loss of connection. Therapy combines relational insight with CBT-informed tools to strengthen autonomy, clarify boundaries, and support healthier, more balanced relationships.
