Mara Reichenberg is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. She welcomes adults experiencing depression, anxiety, and various mental health challenges into her practice. Mara has advanced training in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and often works with individuals with emotional difficulty during major life transitions related to starting a family; such as trying to conceive, coping with infertility, grief and loss, and navigating new parenthood and care-giving. Common themes Mara’s clients seek help for include struggling with their role and identity transitions, relationship distress, work and home life stress, childhood trauma, perfectionism, body image, parenting skills, caregiver burnout, and low self-esteem or confidence.
Mara’s approach to therapy begins with determining what brought the client into therapy and what goals they would like to work on. Taking the client’s lead, she provides helpful support as sessions continue. She practices psychodynamic talk therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), offering clients a wide range of mental tools to use to cope with difficult emotions while also diving into the reasons those emotions are so strong.
Mara’s therapeutic style is interactive, strengths-based, and non-judgmental. She provides clients with the space to explore their feelings, experiences, and begin to identify patterns that may be contributing to their current distress. Mara is an active listener and also provides clients with skills to make effective change in their lives.
Mara earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from New York University. With over 10 years in practice, she is an experienced and compassionate therapist. Her empathy and professionalism lead to positive outcomes with her clients as they work towards reaching their mental health goals.
