Mariah is committed to providing client centered, trauma informed care for all clients. She ultimately works from an integrated perspective, collaborating with clients to generate a treatment environment that is as safe and beneficial as possible for each unique individual. Her style is open, collaborative and transparent. Mariah primarily works from an Internal Family Systems (IFS) and psychodynamic orientation, with a strong background in somatic awareness, advocacy and anti-oppression social work. Mariah is also trained in crisis management and behavioral therapies (CBT and DBT).
Mariah received her Master’s degree in social work from Smith School for Social work in 2012 and she has been practicing in NYC since 2009. Additionally, she has continued to pursue post-graduate training through out her career. Mariah has studied and practiced IFS for several years, and recently completed Internal Family Systems (IFS) Level one training. She previously completed the 2 year psychodynamic training program at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy (ICP.) Mariah has an ongoing commitment to engaging with anti-racism and anti-bias training, education and practice. As such, she invites feedback in session and is able to address miss-attunement and bias that might happen during the course of treatment.
In terms of client focus, Mariah enjoys working with a wide range of people. She has experience supporting those who are struggling with relationship issues, anxiety, depression, loss, and trauma. Mariah has extensive and diverse experience providing care within the LGBTQ+ community. She sees people who are HIV positive or suffer with other chronic illnesses/pain, as well as people dealing with body image issues and self harming behaviors.
