Marika Soltys is a Mental Health Counselor in New York City. She works with adult clients of all identities, including those experiencing changes: newcomers to New York, career-changers, recent graduates, or individuals experiencing loss. Many of Marika's patients have experienced symptoms of anxiety, depression, or overwhelm. They may be facing challenges regarding life transitions, interpersonal relationships, career decision-making, uncertainty, grief, or existential questions.
Marika's approach is holistic, culturally competent, and person-centered, with a focus on narrative. She aims to cultivate a safe space where the individual can take ownership of their own story, make meaning of their life, and identify narratives that do not serve them. As awareness of patterns is achieved, Marika gently challenges the client to collaborate on changing behaviors and learning new coping skills. Her focus on narrative therapy also draws on elements of psychodynamic therapy, CBT, and mindfulness, depending on the client's needs.
Marika holds an M.S.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling from Fordham University and a B.A. in Neuroscience & Behavior and Slavic Studies from Wesleyan University. She speaks English and Polish fluently. Before becoming a counselor, she taught foreign languages abroad.
Marika is seeing clients both online and in-person in a cozy, accessible office in Midtown Manhattan. She has availability during some weekdays, including the evenings.
