Professional statement

Matthew Beeble has been providing individual therapy to the residents of Oregon and Washington for over 15 years. Currently, he provides telehealth therapy to clients in the Pacific Northwest on a private-pay basis and with those who wish to utilize their insurance benefits.

After completing his Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Seattle University in 2005, Matthew moved abroad and provided free therapy to individuals without insurance. Upon returning to the US, he continued to provide therapy on a volunteer basis at the free clinic provided by Community Services Northwest called the Wellness Project. He was given a special honor for giving hundreds of hours of support to people who would not have received it otherwise due to financial limitations. Matthew was eventually hired on at CSNW and worked in community mental health as a licensed mental health clinician until 2019 when he transitioned into full-time private practice.

Message to clients

I work with people who may be struggling with self-esteem, difficulties in their relationships or those who are feeling stuck and lacking a sense of direction. In therapy, the most important steps are reaching out and showing up. There is an immense amount to be gained by just committing to therapy. I enjoy building on this foundation of safety and freedom to help you pursue the life you want.

As your counselor, I believe I have a lot to offer you, the most important thing being my belief in the power of the therapeutic process. Also, I find it rewarding and energizing to sit with people and their struggles and am humbled by the opportunity to witness bravery and healing on a daily basis.

I use an eclectic style in therapy that is informed by my training but also by the thousands of sessions that have taught me what does and doesn't work for people. This allows for a fresh therapy tailored to your style and goals. Sessions will be conversational and collaborative which means I will give feedback and help you apply the insight and strategies to your everyday life.

Self-esteem - I enjoy helping people feel better about themselves. It's one of the tasks that I feel the most confident will end with success. Low self-esteem is often about negative self-talk based on faulty beliefs about oneself due to past experience. These beliefs are often powerful. Implied in this struggle is the question, "This is who I am, is that okay?" The answer is "yes." Therapy is about figuring out how to believe it.

Anxiety - Anxiety can take many forms and can stem from different sources. It can influence your sense of self, how you relate to others and disrupt your ability to function in everyday life. One of the most damaging things anxiety can do is cause you to prioritize avoiding your fears rather than pursuing your desires. I enjoy helping people understand their anxiety in order to free themselves of unnecessary constraints and live a more satisfying life.

Depression - Feeling low at times is a universal human experience and yet, when you are feeling this way, it can leave you feeling isolated and alienated. Don't go through it alone. I enjoy helping people, not only overcome their depression, but experience a deeper life satisfaction by figuring out what their symptoms have to teach them about themselves.

Relationship issues - Everyone needs others in their life, yet everyone is unique. This can contribute to conflict and other difficulties. These difficulties can be most pronounced in romantic relationships and it's easy for bad habits of communication to lead to deep hurt. I want to help you understand your role in these dynamics in order to increase your ability to have successful and resilient bonds with others.

Existential crisis & challenges - The most important questions a person can answer are, "Who am I?" and "What's the point of life?" My role is to help nurture your self-awareness which allows for a new understanding to come forth; one that clarifies your identity, shifts the way you experience yourself and your relationships, and gives you a feeling of being at home in your body and a sense of direction and purpose in your life.

Discomfort with male relationships - Your past relationships with males may be contributing to avoidance, fear or anger that disrupts opportunities to have positive and safe relationships in your life today.

Therapist's note

Have you considered using your out-of-network benefits in order to be able to choose from a wider pool of counseling options?

You may be experiencing difficulty in finding a counselor who has availability and takes your insurance. If so, it can be helpful to understand any out-of-network benefits that are included in your coverage. This may allow you to choose from a wider group of providers who work with clients out-of-network. Although most OON coverage has a higher copay/coinsurance, it will likely be significantly less than you would be paying out of pocket if you are forced to forgo insurance benefits in order to find a counselor who can start working with your right now. The easiest way to clarify these benefits is to call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card or log on to your account and review the Summary of Benefits.
