Professional statement

Mia Gajdosik is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Berkeley, California, who specializes in supporting individuals navigating Anxiety, ADHD, Autism, and Trauma. Many of Mia’s clients identify as deep feelers or highly sensitive people who often find themselves overwhelmed, overstimulated, or stuck in spirals of overthinking. Whether due to neurodivergence, trauma histories, or emotional dysregulation, her clients often come to therapy feeling like their brains work differently than others - and want to better understand themselves and find effective ways to cope.

Mia offers a compassionate, neurodivergent-affirming, and collaborative therapy space where clients can explore their experiences with curiosity and care. She supports individuals who struggle with emotional regulation, shutting down under stress, or feeling like they can't "turn off" their brains - common experiences for those living with Anxiety, Trauma, ADHD, and Autism.

Her therapeutic approach integrates a range of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Somatic Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She also incorporates mindfulness and body-based practices from her training as a certified yoga instructor.

Mia works with both individuals and families. In family sessions, she helps parents better understand and support their young people, emphasizing a strengths-based, relational approach grounded in empathy and curiosity.

Mia welcomes clients of all identities and is a gender-affirming and neurodivergent affirming therapist. Mia aims to offer a judgment-free therapy space where clients can express themselves freely and openly. Mia’s goal is to make sure clients feel safe to be completely themselves, so clients know they don’t have to mask in session or do go through life feeling alone. Clients leave sessions feeling more supported, understood, accepting of who they are, understanding of how to take care of themselves, equipped to manage big emotions, and encouraged to work towards their goals.

Message to clients

You may feel emotions deeply and experience the world with heightened sensitivity - tuning into the energy of a room, the feelings of others, and subtleties that many overlook. Your emotions might feel overwhelming at times, hard to manage, or like they take over. You may sense that your brain works differently from others, leaving you feeling lonely, stuck, or misunderstood.

I specialize in supporting highly sensitive, neurodivergent, and deeply feeling individuals navigating Anxiety, ADHD, Autism, and Trauma. These experiences can feel exhausting and disorienting - especially without the right support. In therapy, you’ll feel understood, accepted, and equipped to make meaningful shifts in how you relate to yourself and the world around you. Together, we’ll work toward emotional regulation, self-understanding, and a greater sense of ease.

I’m Neurodivergent-Affirming and Gender-Affirming, and I hold space with deep respect and care for all parts of who you are. I have extensive experience working with neurodivergent individuals, the LGBTQ+ community, and those who feel life intensely. My clinical training is from Columbia University, and I draw from a range of evidence-based and relational approaches to meet your unique needs.

My style is warm, grounded, and nonjudgmental. I aim to create a space where you feel truly safe to show up as yourself. Therapy is a place where you don’t have to hold it all together.

I welcome you to schedule a free consult - either in person or online - to explore if we’re a good fit. I look forward to meeting you!
