Professional statement

Dr. Nina Miller is a licensed clinical psychologist, who has provided therapy in her Manhattan office for 25 years. Her clients are adults of all ages and backgrounds, who seek coping skills and real-life solutions. Areas of focus are anxiety, panic, difficulties with attention, depression, relationship issues, and adjustment to life changes, e.g. a move, graduate school, or becoming a new parent. She is particularly passionate about helping young adults in their 20’s and 30’s to navigate stress, personal development, and family conflict.

Dr. Miller integrates techniques from interpersonal, psychodynamic, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) approaches. Her style is compassionate and interactive. She engages clients to name feelings and needs and consider options in a given situation. She also helps clients to understand the influence of early relationships and provides tools to address thoughts or behavioral habits that are getting in the way of reaching personal objectives.

Dr. Miller received her Ph.D. from the Derner Institute at Adelphi University and a bachelors degree from Yale (psychology major). She is dedicated to creating a space that honors your objectives, strengths, individual background and identities.

Dr. Miller offers in-person therapy as well as remote telehealth. She integrates approaches to meet the needs of her clients. The intake visit is 60- 70 minutes and, from there, sessions are 45 minutes. Treatment can be short-term or longer-term.

Message to clients

It takes courage to reach out and ask for help. I hope you will take that step and that I can provide a space for you to navigate current difficulties and move toward greater ease or clarity.

In the initial call, you can share a bit about what you’d like help with and your objectives. I’ll answer questions that you have and go over my current fees. Then, if you’d like to proceed, we can schedule an appointment.

Sessions are in person, virtual, or (if you prefer) a combination. I currently follow healthcare setting COVID guidelines for in person visits.

I draw from evidenced-based approaches, emotional attunement and an appreciation for human dignity and resilience. I provide reduced-fee slots for individuals who immigrated to the US and are facing financial insecurity. I look forward to getting to know you.
