Professional statement

Sarah LaFontaine, LMHC, LPC warmly welcomes high‑achieving adults who find themselves living at full throttle, leading, caring for others, managing work, and continuing to thrive, even while underneath they’re battling trauma, anxiety, or chronic health concerns. Many of her clients describe themselves as capable, driven, and not used to being stopped; yet they’ve begun to notice that “everything’s working” doesn’t feel like enough anymore. Sarah partners with those who are ready to shift from mere survival to a more grounded, balanced and self‑honoring life.

In her practice, Sarah uses a candid and human‑centered approach. She believes deeply that the mind and body are interconnected, and healing occurs when both are heard, respected and addressed. Her therapeutic style blends advanced training in EMDR, Polyvagal Theory and Interpersonal Neurobiology with genuine empathy, humor, and accountability. In the room, clients can expect clear-eyed insight, safe space to feel their real selves (yes, including the “holy shit” and “oh damn” moments), and work that doesn’t stop when the session ends—Sarah makes herself available for questions, clarifications or check‑ins beyond the hour when needed.

Sarah is a licensed therapist with more than ten years of experience in trauma, crisis management and inpatient psychiatric settings. She holds a Certificate in Interpersonal Neurobiology, advanced training in trauma‑related dissociation, and has helped individuals across multiple states (RI, CT, MA, SC & FL) via secure telehealth. Sessions are scheduled Tues–Fri 9:00 am–3:30 pm (ET), and she keeps a thoughtfully limited caseload to provide focused attention and support. Although she operates on an out‑of‑network basis for insurance reimbursement, she provides superbills and works with clients to help navigate benefits.

Message to clients

You’re the one people turn to. You hold it all together at work, in your relationships, and with your health. But underneath, you’re exhausted. Anxiety crashes in at the worst moments. Your body isn’t cooperating. Old trauma resurfaces when you least expect it. Maybe you’ve done therapy before, but it didn’t get deep enough—or didn’t quite connect. You’re ready for something that actually helps.

That’s where I come in. I specialize in helping highly driven adults with childhood trauma and health issues develop a balanced life with confidence. My clients are thoughtful, capable, and often the emotional anchor for everyone around them. In our work together, we go beyond coping skills. We dig into what’s really going on, untangle long-held patterns, and create space for something different. I bring training in EMDR, Polyvagal Theory, and Interpersonal Neurobiology plus a real-world, compassionate approach that meets you exactly where you are.

My hope for you is that you stop feeling like you have to manage it all alone. Therapy with me is warm, honest, and collaborative. We’ll laugh, grieve, challenge patterns, and get real without judgment. You don’t need to have it all figured out to get started. You just need to be ready to stop carrying the weight by yourself.
