Message to clients

Prior to starting treatment, it is important to take into perspective that processing trauma is difficult, and I am but an instrument for you to use in composing your new identity. Most people experience real hardships in our lives such as the difficulty of not being motivated, relationship instability, grief, anxiety, unhealthy self perspective, betrayal, abandonment, and the list goes on. There has been much research to show that when you speak about trauma its like reliving the trauma because your brain has difficulty perceiving what is real or imagined. Talking about trauma is very uncomfortable and most people simply avoid to not feel our emotions and instead immersing ourselves in people, places, and things. In fully processing your trauma, its going to hurt like hell - no doubt about it- but it is also going to allow you to open yourself up to more beneficial aspects of your life to process such as acceptance, forgiveness, or pursing happiness.

In beginning treatment with me, we will immediately take a psychodynamic approach to treatment and process childhood trauma, attachment styles, and values. Processing these concepts are important bc they build the foundations of our mental health There is never a push or pressure for clients to speak about anything that makes them uncomfortable; however, therapy is about acknowledging pain and discomfort and will most likely be addressed at a later time.

There is no such thing as a perfect client, this is life and its hard so let's get working!
