Professional statement

Luz Trauma Therapy is a virtual practice founded by Stephanie Sorady, LCSW, serving adults across California and Florida. The practice specializes in high-achieving women—often first-generation or eldest daughters—who were parentified or taught to perform. These clients are accomplished yet feel anxious, over-responsible, and guilty about setting boundaries. Many live with perfectionism, people-pleasing/codependency, masked ADHD, and the lingering impact of childhood trauma.

Founder Stephanie Sorady, LCSW, is EMDR-trained and bilingual (English/Spanish). As a first-gen, eldest daughter herself, she brings a grounded understanding of intergenerational dynamics, bicultural stress, and the invisible labor many clients carry. She frequently works with Latine and LGBTQIA+ clients, as well as adults navigating ADHD alongside perfectionism and anxiety.

Associate Therapist Brenda Alvarez, M.S., AMFT, is a bilingual clinician with experience in community health, youth social work, and anti-oppressive advocacy. Brenda’s holistic approach honors mind, body, spirit, and community. She supports clients navigating trauma, systemic oppression, identity exploration, and life transitions. Her style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in healing justice.

Sessions are available virtually in English and Spanish, allowing clients to access therapy from wherever they feel most at ease. We are committed to offering a supportive and affirming space where no one has to hold it all alone.

Message to clients

If you’ve been the responsible one—caretaker, fixer, eldest daughter—you’re not broken; you’ve been over-functioning. With EMDR and trauma-informed care, I help high-achieving women and non-binary adults process the roots of perfectionism, people-pleasing, anxiety, and ADHD, so that calm and self-trust become their baseline.

In our work, we’ll process the roots (childhood trauma, perfectionism, people-pleasing, masked ADHD) so your nervous system settles, your boundaries get clean, and your self-trust becomes non-negotiable.

I offer online therapy across CA & FL in English and Spanish. My associate, Brenda Alvarez, AMFT, is a bilingual Mexican immigrant who brings a holistic, community-centered lens and sees clients in California. If you’d like support that’s warm, direct, and culturally responsive, book a free consultation and we’ll match you to the best fit.
