Suzana Gertrudes is a LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker) has over 25 years of experience and has been in private practice for the past 20 years. She genuinely enjoys working with people and feels deeply honored to support individuals as they navigate life’s challenges, transitions, and moments of uncertainty. Suzana strives to create a therapeutic space where clients feel safe, understood, and not alone, and where they can explore their thoughts and emotions at a pace that feels right for them.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Providence College and her master’s degree from Boston University. Suzana has also studied at the Universidad de Salamanca in Spain. She is trilingual and offers therapy in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, allowing her to connect meaningfully with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.

A Rhode Island native, Suzana values time spent with her family outside of her professional work. She enjoys being outdoors, running, hiking, and staying active, which help her remain grounded and present—both personally and professionally. She believes that healing happens through connection, self-understanding, and compassion, and she is committed to supporting clients on their individual journeys toward growth and well-being.

Message to clients

I believe it is essential to create a warm, welcoming, and safe space for every client. I understand that reaching out to schedule a first appointment can feel anxiety-provoking and far outside of one’s comfort zone. You are not alone in that experience. My goal is to meet you exactly where you are, at your own pace, and to offer a space where you can feel comfortable, supported, and understood as you begin your healing and growth.

I also offer therapy in Spanish and Portuguese and approach my work with strong cultural humility and sensitivity. I am committed to honoring each client’s unique background, values, and lived experiences, and to creating a therapeutic relationship where you feel respected and seen.
