Professional statement

Dr. Palmeri works with adults who are experiencing: Anxiety, panic attacks, depression, phase-of-life issues, life transitions, existential concerns, relationship difficulties, stress, issues of identity development, and chronic pain. Overall, she is a generalist who treats a wide range of psychological presentations and concerns, while prioritizing the establishment of a strong therapeutic relationship and working partnership.

Dr. Palmeri provides a holistic approach to therapy, tailoring her approach to integrate psychodynamic approaches with interpersonal-process, relational, mindfulness-based, and cognitive-behavioral perspectives. She focuses on providing clients with effective coping strategies while also helping them deepen their understanding of themselves.

Dr. Palmeri earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University, her M.S.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling from Fordham University, and her B.S. in Psychology from Binghamton University, State University of New York. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship at UMass Amherst’s Center for Counseling and Psychological Health, where she specialized in therapy and psychological assessment, with a focus on ADHD. After extensive training in multiple college counseling centers, she has developed a specialization in working with young adults.

While Dr. Palmeri is a skilled generalist, she has particular expertise in working with young adults navigating major life changes, including college, early career decisions, relationships, and questions of identity and purpose. Dr. Palmeri works with individual adults ages 18 and older. Many of her clients are students, graduate students, and early-career professionals seeking support around anxiety, focus and motivation, relationships, and finding direction.

Therapy with Dr. Palmeri focuses on both practical change and deeper self-understanding. Clients can expect to build effective coping skills while also exploring patterns, relationships, and experiences that shape their lives.

Her first priority is creating a strong therapeutic relationship in which clients feel safe, understood, and supported.

Message to clients

“I am honored to be invited into a client’s world and to aid in the development of peace, balance, healing, and well-being. I strive to create a safe and protected space that is just for you—your needs and your wants—which is the true beauty of therapy, because in life, such spaces are often rare. I aim to embody genuineness and personal style both inside and outside of therapy.”
