Professional statement

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Missouri, who is also licensed in Illinois, Tennessee & New York. I work with professional, high-achieving Women of Color, who struggle with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, imposter syndrome, relationships, boundaries, and/or perfectionism. Many of my clients come in having put in some work themselves already. However, they’ve come to the point where they need assistance from someone else to get them to where they want to be and, more importantly, need to be. I am particularly passionate about serving high-achieving, professional women who are showing up for others and are ready to show up for themselves.

I am trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, which utilizes the concept of our thoughts influencing our emotions, which then influence our behaviors or actions. In the sessions, I focus on providing tools, techniques, feedback on how to reframe how we think about situations, and ourselves. This approach supports clients in becoming empowered to move towards the life they want.

My style is respectful, supportive, empathetic, and genuine. When a client meets with me, they feel I “get them” and understands their struggles, and where they want to be. I am dedicated to providing a relationship that is based on allowing clients to find their essence, voice, autonomy, and superpower to live out their best lives.

I received their Master of Social Work degree from University of Missouri-St. Louis. I have close to 20 years of experience working in educational, government, nonprofit, community mental health, and private practice sectors which enables them to bring these experiences and understandings to sessions for clients with various backgrounds. Outside of private practice, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, enjoying sunny days, collecting inspirational quotes, and having random moments that bring laughter and joy.

Message to clients

Greetings! I really appreciate you taking the time to visit my profile. I'm sure you're wondering "Why should I work with Tia? What will makes her different then the other therapists I've worked within the past or other ones on this site?" When I work with my clients not only are they getting my complete attention, focus, and expertise, but they are also receiving support, custom-tailored approach to YOUR issues and concerns, validation, and true experience of someone holding space for you and you alone. My passion is wanting professional women of color who are high-achieving and have accomplished a lot in their life (or well on their way) to celebrate it, but above all, be able and comfortable celebrating themselves. I create a space for my clients to feel safe and know they can be fully and authentically themselves during our time together.

When my clients leave their weekly sessions my goal is for them to feel heard, seen, understood, determined and encouraged to continue this journey. When you work with me, you are not only experiencing a difference during our session time, but also outside of your sessions as the tools, techniques, and feedback I provide are those that you can use everyday for that transformation you are working towards.

Don’t continue to put off starting therapy, the time is now and I am ready to help you, let’s go ahead and get started!
