Twyla Terry-McCarrell is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) providing online psychotherapy to adults in Texas and Oklahoma. She works with those who are navigating the emotional, relational, and physical impacts of trauma and other life challenges. Her clients often seek support for concerns such as abandonment, anxiety, depression, dissociation, grief, insecure attachment, complex trauma (CPTSD), and sexual trauma. Twyla offers a safe and compassionate space where clients can process their experiences, reduce symptoms, and move toward healing and resilience.
Twyla’s therapy approach is grounded in brain/body-based modalities that recognize the deep connection between mind and body in the healing process. She is a Certified Brainspotting Practitioner and integrates Brainspotting with additional training in Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Mindfulness practices. Her work is collaborative and client-centered, honoring the therapeutic relationship as a foundation for growth. Twyla believes that when clients are supported with compassion and neuroscience-based care, they can access the strength within themselves to create meaningful change.
Before becoming a therapist, Twyla earned her B.S. in Computer Science from Langston University and later her M.A. in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2017. She transitioned into counseling after a successful corporate career, following her passion to help others heal. Her diverse clinical background includes experience in private practice, clinic settings, and specialized contexts such as individual, couples, family, group, forensic, and faith-based counseling.
Twyla provides services through Headway (accepts listed insurance) and her private practice (insurance not accepted), Compassionate by Nature, PLLC, where clients can meet with her virtually from the comfort of their own home. She currently offers remote sessions for those located in Texas and Oklahoma, making therapy accessible and convenient. New clients are invited to schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation to explore whether working together feels like the right fit.
